GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsibilities will include assisting with and growing Fitchburg State University’s Diverse Future Educator Academy (FEA) Program by recruiting diverse students and retaining them through enrollment at FSU.
The coordinator is responsible for collaborating with other departments/faculty and organizing all aspects of the Future Educator Academy including supervising all educational activities, academic assessment and evaluation measures, coordinating participants' education plans, and monitoring their progress.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as liaison between the FEA program and area target schools.
Meet with district administrators and early college coordinator at Fitchburg Public Schools.
In-person visits to meet with Fitchburg High School, Goodrich Academy, and St.
Bernard’s High School administrators and guidance counselors (Adding Leominster and Gardner) In-person meetings with students to generate interest, introduce them to the Future Educator Academy, and answer any relevant questions.
Complete all logistical aspects assuring student and event success.
Coordinate school, university staff and volunteer for participants.
Plan and implement academic workshops and other related educational activities for students to earn their badges Assist in gathering and documenting program formative and summative assessment of the program twice a year.
Keep and maintain appropriate program and student records.
Monitor the program participants' progress throughout the program (4 years of High School through 4 years of college at FSU) Ensures compliance with university and federal regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned by Education Coordinator of Field Placement, Partnership, and Recruitment.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the field of education.
Minimum of three years’ experience in education, counseling or a related program.
Excellent communication/organizational skills, bilingual ability, program development, and strong interpersonal skills are helpful.
Experience with disadvantaged populations or similar programs (i.
e.
, TRIO).
Knowledge of the college admissions process; financial aid opportunities and high school graduation requirements.
Ability to exercise good judgment.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adhere to guidelines.
Personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those facing project participants.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check), a SORI check and a background check satisfactory to the university.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
